Walk the Wildside with Painted Poinsettias

Poinsettias are the best selling flowering potted plants in the United States.

It is not hard to understand why when you look at the vast selection and number of varieties available. This year alone, Al’s is growing over 50,000 poinsettias in over 50 varieties. Poinsettia breeders from around the world have come up with many different hues of red, pink and white. But for those who “walk on the wild side”, and enjoy being a little non-traditional, our purple, blue and even tie-died poinsettia are for you.

 

This is no plant breeder break through, but our skilled staff of Purple People and a few paint cans. Introduced for the first time at Al’s in 2004, this special vegetable base paint can turn any poinsettia into an unusually creative masterpiece. Pink poinsettias with purple paint turn to a florescent rose; while white poinsettias turn purple (we can now produce the perfect Al’s purple poinsettia). The options are endless and though it makes our grower wince, the results have been astounding. The painted poinsettias sell so fast, we can hardly keep the tables full.
